Poem by Will Powell
So I hardly know this kid, talked to him a couple times in my study block, & he wrote this poem about me yesterday?
“Your heart is dark just like your skin
At least from my perception
and hair so straight just like your mind
with eyes that scream aggression.
When you hide your fear behind a smile
everyone will look past you,
for truth and denial are your best friends
admit to nothing you have to.
You speak your mind on paper,
let your dreams be set on canvas,
the picture we are blind to see
is covered in your languish.
And when you scream for more attention
you sing a different song,
the thoughts and words you fail to speak
have been waiting all too long.
You tell lies about what you know
and what you want to be,
but who am I to judge so wrongly
you’re only human like me.”
… So i couldn’t tell if this was supposed to be mean, or… what?
tell me what you think!
